Behind The Prints | Lucy's Process

I find my inspiration in the simple, beautiful moments of Mediterranean life. I love taking relaxed strolls by the sea, soaking in the way the sunlight makes the natural world around me shimmer. The local markets are like treasure troves, where I hunt for antiques and select the freshest ingredients for the week's meals, each visit sparking new ideas for both my art and my kitchen.

In my studio, surrounded by things that bring me joy—like art books and lovely ceramics—I pour all the wonderful sights I've seen into my work. Anything from a striking color combination of old walls, or even the way a plant shines against the blue sky, can ignite my imagination. Playing with different colors is one of my most favourite parts of the process.
I use gouache paint to create my illustrations, making sure to keep the natural strokes of the brush. Then I transfer my paintings into the computer to fine-tune the colors and piece the designs together. But I always keep those little imperfections of paint splatters or brushstrokes because they make the fabric feel alive, like a painting you can touch.
Before everything is final, I check how the design looks on the actual fabric, which is an exciting part of the process. Sometimes, the end result is even more beautiful than I expected, especially when it's printed on our special linen that lends another layer of soul to the work. I adore how my art doesn't just stay on a wall but transforms into something three-dimensional on furniture, turning everyday items into unique, living pieces of art that you can actually use and enjoy every day.
